Doha, Mar 29: The 2009-2011 Karnataka Sangha management committee held its final programme with a grand thanksgiving evening recently.

Chief guest of the evening, Indian ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadwa, was welcomed on the stage by the ladies of the committee in a typical Karnataka tradition of applying haldi and kumkum and was presented with a saree, flowers, fruits and bangles in a tray.

The touch of traditional welcome rendered to Wadwa was applauded by the audience present and the ambassador in her speech appreciated KSQ for this gesture in sustaining the Indian tradition in spite of being away from motherland. She also lauded KSQ for conducting free Kannada classes every Friday.

President Arun Kumar welcomed the gathering and thanked the committee members and the advisory council panel who had worked very hard for the past two years in ensuring that all segments of KSQ members were involved in cultural, sports, benevolence and educational activities. Special mention was made of the support rendered by the ICC management committee to KSQ.

Popular Kannada playback singers Badri Prasad and Anuradha Bhat and comedy talk show specialist Ravi Bajantri, who were specially flown in from Bangalore, entertained the audience. Management committee members were presented with a special momento in recognition of their contribution to KSQ. Manjunath Rao compered the programme.

Thanks giving function was well organised. Singers and Comedians entertained the gathered audience, who turned up in large numbers despite Cricket match was really praise worthy.

The last 2 years of KSQ under the leadership of Arun will definately go down as "Finest ERA" of KSQ. KSQ was very active not only in Cultural spectrum but made a name for itself in the field of SPORTS too by successfully organising Cricket Tournaments, Badminton Tournament, Indoor and outdoor games. It was also involved in Charitbale causes too. KSQ achieved another milestone by starting Kannada classes for Kids, an initiative appreciated by one and all.

    Alex, Thanks for nice coverage.
