Hyderabad Nativity (Monthi Fest) celebration and 12th KCWA annual general meeting

Hyderabad, Sep 21: Members of the Kanara Catholic Welfare Association (KCWA), Hyderabad celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Nativity (Monthi Fest) on Sunday September 12, 2010 at St Patrick’s High School hall,
Secunderabad.

Members from all over the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad gathered at the venue in full festive spirit, the children especially so, with basketfuls of flowers, akin to the celebration back home in
Mangalore.  An idol of Infant Mary was taken out in procession with children showering flowers all the way and singing 'Sokkod Sangata Melleam'.











This was followed by Holy Mass by two Mangalorean priests, Fr. Alwyn Mascarenhas and Fr. Lancy Menezes.  KCWA konkani choir rendered melodious hymns.

After the mass, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association was held.  Games for younger children were conducted by Ms. Laveena Lobo while the elders attended the AGM.  The gathering was welcomed by the President, Mr. Rex Thomas Prabhu.  The annual report of activities of the association was presented by General Secretary, Mr. Fredrick Fernandez.  The Treasurer, Mr. Ronald D'Silva presented the statement of accounts of the association.  The gathering was later treated to a sumptuous Mangalorean lunch.  The day’s events were wrapped up by demo presentation of cookery recipes by a team of Nestle India, arranged by Mr. Norman Bennis, Regional marketing manager (South), Nestle and a member of the KCWA.

Meritorious students were presented with medals and certificates in appreciation of their outstanding performances in academics by the priests.  Five new members joined the association on that day.  A 2-minute silence was observed for the dear departed family members of the association.
