Bengaluru, Jan 25: Former Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar, who hit national headlines after the disqualification of the 16 Congress and JD(S) MLAs for resigning and defecting to enable the BJP to form the government by pulling down the Congress-JD(S) coalition government headed by H D Kumaraswamy, has openly confessed that he has 'become a big fan' of Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Ramesh Kumar said that during his tenure as health minister, he had a visit to Delhi and was surprised to see the Mohalla clinic and government schools there and became a big fan of Arvind Kejriwal after seeing the revolutionary changes brought by him in Delhi.

After his visit to the Aam Aadmi clinic located on Basappa road, Shantinagar, Congress leader Ramesh Kumar spoke to the media and said that the citizens of Delhi gave one chance of governance to Arvind Kejriwal and he has really taken advantage of this opportunity to serve the public wholeheartedly.

He also added that the revolutionary changes brought by Arvind Kejriwal in the field of healthcare, education, free water, free electricity and other basic necessities should be replicated in all other states of the country.

When asked by the media as to 'Will you be joining the AamAadmi Party?' he replied: “I am AamAadmi (common man) and will always support those who work for the welfare of the common man.’’

He said he was extremely delighted to see the Aam Aadmi Clinic, a replica of Delhi model Mohalla Clinic, launched by Aam Aadmi Party volunteers in Shantinagar, Bengaluru.

He also added that one of the things he admired is that the facility has been extended to everyone without asking for any kind of income or caste.

Due to the pandemic, common man is facing financial difficulties to buy medicines even for small ailments. Majority of patients in Aam Aadmi clinic are women who are indulged in small paying jobs like household work. He also appreciated Aam Aadmi clinic’s support to such classes of women.

He also met the patients at the clinic and spoke to them regarding their health.

Aam Aadmi Party, Karnataka’s state convener Prithvi Reddy, state general secretary Sanchit Sawhney, senior leaders Gopal Reddy, Hariharan, Renuka Vishwanath, joint secretary Darshan Jain and state chief spokesperson SharatKhadri, vice president Suresh Rathod were also present at the event.
