Twelve Emergency Response Support System vehicles flagged off in Udupi

Udupi, Jan 23: Twelve ERSS (Emergency Response Supporting System) vehicles were flagged off near Manipal Syndicate Circle on Saturday January 23.

Udupi district superintendent of police (SP) Vishnuvardhan who flagged off the vehicles said that the nearest vehicle will provide emergency help when people dial 112 instead of the former number 100. “The vehicles will function round the clock,” he said.

Toll free number 112 is being directly controlled in Bengaluru. An ASI rank police officer will be available in the vehicles to reach the spot. The vehicles will function at spots which are known for crimes, near schools, colleges, places with more people and traffic.

“People should contact 112 during accidents and crimes,” said the assistant commissioner. Additional SP Kumarchandra, DySP Sudhaker Nayak, Manipal station police inspector Manjunath Gowda and others were present.

    What about drugs corner, cigarettes smoking junction around colleges, hospitals, liquor consumption near wine stores, wrong entry vehicles same number 112 or some other number. The above are the main problems.
