Udupi: Two health workers fall sick after jab, doctors say 'unrelated to vaccine'

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jan 18: It is reported that two people have fallen sick after taking the coronavirus vaccine in the city.

DMO Dr Sudhindra Chandra Sooda informed that they were administered the vaccines in Udupi city primary health care centre and Dr T M A Pai hospital.

Both reportedly had mild stomach pain after taking the vaccine. Doctors said that there is no relation between the vaccine and the stomach ache the two people developed. According to the doctors, it is due to anxiety and curiosity of taking the vaccine.

The doctors said that both the patients are fine now. Forty health workers of Dr TMA Pai hospital took the vaccine on Sunday. So far 286 people have taken the coronavirus vaccine in the district.

After clarity is available in AEFI (Adverse Event Following Immunization) cases the numbers can be confirmed on Monday or Tuesday as per the information shared by DMO Dr Sooda.

Dr Sooda also said that he himself, district nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat and district CRH officer Dr M G Rama took the vaccine on Saturday. He also informed that most of the registered people did not receive the call from the Covid platform on Saturday. So only 286, out of the registered 538 people could be administered the vaccine on Saturday.

On Sunday, four cases of Covid-19 are reported in the district of Udupi. With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases reported so far in the district has gone up to 23,222. Till Sunday, January 17, 189 people have died due to coronavirus in the district.

Trained and knowledgeable doctors and nurses should be allowed to give injectable vaccines. Before giving an intramuscular injection in the deltoid ( shoulder) one has to palpate the acromion process ,and the point of injection,2 fingers below it (3 cms)indentified,so that the circumflex(axillary)nerve is not damaged, one has to withdraw the plunger of the syringe to confirm that the needle is not in a blood vessel. If injected in a blood vessel severe anaphylaxis can occur. You might have taken or seen injections being given but how many palpate the acromion process or withdraw the plunger before injecting? Whatever advances in medicine we should not forget the basics.Eternal vigilance is the price of safety.Sometimes it is not the vaccine but the vaccinator who is at fault.

According to news reports in Moradabad UP, a hospital ward boy died a day after taking Covishield(Serum Institute ) vaccine - not a time tested method-corona spike protein on adeno virus. Death may or may not be due to vaccine. But the one manufactured by Bharat Biotech - Covaxin is by a time tested method, only time will tell what is safe and what is not,but what I have said earlier is that those who are sero-positive ( already have antibodies) need not take the risk of taking a vaccine as there is a possibility of cytokine storm ( too many antibodies or too much immunity). Always see the risk-reward before jumping to conclusion in any matter.

Monti Dotormangalore as you said how can determine the person has any anti bodies? The person himself cant be knowing. So should one person test before taking vaccine? We hear from many places here and there ,cases of deaths or people having reactions but health officers dont take it seriously or left without any clearing. Many Nurses or helpers are deny to take the vaccine.Wish to know how do in India the doses are mixed for a person. Here they take one vile of 5ml for 5persons.Mixed with Nacl and vaccine mixed given. Not only vaccine Sera.so I heard.

One can get antibody test for Covid this will tell if one is seropositive or not.Seropositive means one has antibodies and my personal opinion is vaccine is not required in this case. Kindly read carefully my 2 posts here. Also if one is immunocompromised (e.g on chemotherapy for cancer) or has bleeding disorders or is on anti coagulant therapy he may avoid intramuscular vaccine but take a intranasal spray vaccine which will be available shortly. One has to remember that after taking a vaccine one might still test "positive" ( rt PCR) as a positive test may indicate only colonization (and may or may not infection), even if one is infected the symptoms would be mild as we have antibodies in our blood. I consider myself a learner till my last breath and not an expert.

Anxiety can bring on any immediate symptoms, except allergic reaction causing anaphylactic shock and need for immediate treatment to reverse that no visible symptoms can be expected. But they will manifest in longer run which might take days to months. Keeping them under observation for longer periods only can reveal their side effects or efficacy.
Until then keep your fingers crossed and decide to take a plunge. Despite tall claims no vaccines have prevented or stopped any spread of infectious diseases till today which they don't want to reveal but alert doctors and scientists have proven it by real data. Now don't jump to criticise but do proper research then only you agree the other side of the coin is hidden from us.

It is unfortunate people make claims that "no vaccines have prevented or stopped any spread of infectious diseases till today" and after that tell people to do research.

Small Pox is a very dangerous infectious disease that had caused so much suffering. It was irradiated only because of vaccination. Polio vaccine is a very good example too.

Please do not mislead people with alternative theories. If you do not want to believe science its left to you. It is up to you take this as criticism or to believe in science.

Here comes one more comment based on propaganda but proved a false claim by vaccine industries.
I put forward any statement based on facts and figures which prove tall claims were lies. Polio is still prevalent in India, every year 50000 kids contract it after polio drops but new medical name. Every viral diseases vanes after 2years but any vaccines introduced at that point garner fake claim that they eliminated them. The graphs provided by CDC proves the same.
Again do proper research then only comment from your thinking or brainwashed reactions. I attempt only to wake up people who are asleep but not those act like sleeping!

You are literally telling why you shouldn't believe it.. It's rumors not real stories. People please understand no person will die after injecting the vaccine as these vaccines take at least 20 days to start activating in the body, thats why 2 shots are taken 21 days apart. There will be many people to mislead you don't fall for it. Yes there are cases of side effects like chills fever etc but that's common even kids after taking vaccine experience the same for 2 to 3 days. These side effects can happen due to anxiety too.

My question is if it is safe, then why our Delhi top leaders avoid taking vaccine???? They should be the roll model and give confidence to public. Vaccine must start from top to lower level. But here they have done ulta for their safety.

They will all get Pfizer or Moderna vaccines from abroad which have proven 94% efficacy, but require very low temperature storage available only in metros. The rich and famous may also be able to get these vaccines.

Pfizer is performing worst than Indian vaccines. 29 expired in norway and 13 are partial face paralyzed. It's time we Indians wake up and agree that our products are also good. Everything made in us or overseas is not better than us.
