Dec 13: Dakshina Kannada records 36 new corona cases, Udupi 11

Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 13: The number of coronavirus cases maintained their steady rate on Sunday December 13, with 36 new cases recorded in Dakshina Kannada, and just 11 in Udupi. Dakshina Kannada however reported one new death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 4,02,045 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,69,684 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 32,361, out of which only 430 are currently active.

As many as 29 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 31,200.

With one death on Sunday, the toll has reached 731.

Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 17,87,197 as fine in 16,830 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 2,65,054 samples have been tested so far, out of which 2,42,159 have turned out to be negative.

A total of 11 cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 22,895, out of which only 135 are currently active.

As many as 14 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,573.

Out of 11, four have been admitted to hospital, while the rest 7 are in home isolation.

As many as six of them are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported five of the 11 new cases, Kundapur recorded four and Karkala two.

The district has continued to maintain its death toll at 187 for over a month.
