Dec 6: Coronavirus cases continue downward trend with 19 new in DK, 15 in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 16: The number of coronavirus cases continued to decline on Sunday December 6, with only 19 new cases recorded in Dakshina Kannada, and just 15 in Udupi. Dakshina Kannada however reported one new death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 3,84,579 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,52,452 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 32,127, out of which only 542 are currently active.

As many as 44 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 30,868.

With one death on Sunday, the toll has reached 717.

Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 16,79,417 as fine in 15,698 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 2,56,282 samples have been tested so far, out of which 2,33,494 have turned out to be negative.

A total of 15 cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 22,788, out of which only 170 are currently active.

As many as 28 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,431.

Out of 15, only two have been admitted to hospital, while the rest 13 are in home isolation.

As many as 10 of them are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 10 of the 15 new cases, Kundapur recorded three and Karkala two.

Altogether, 187 deaths due to COVID have been reported in the district so far.
