Mangaluru: Fishing boat tragedy – Two more bodies found

Mangaluru, Dec 2: In connection with the fishing boat tragedy which happened in the Arabian Sea and came to light on Tuesday December 1, bodies of two more fishermen were found on Wednesday December 2. One of the bodies was found a little distance away from the spot where the boat drowned. It was found entangled in a net spread out for catching fish.

One of the bodies now found has been identified to be that of Ansar from Bengre here. Two more fishermen remain untraced. A team of skilled divers from Tannirnbavi has been continuing with the search.

The mortal remains of Panduranga and Preetam had been found yesterday. The boat had turned turtle suddenly on Monday night when the net was being pulled into the boat.

The ill-fated boat, 'Shree Raksha', had 25 fishermen aboard. As many as 19 among them were rescued by the fishermen of another boat. Six who got stuck in the nets, had gone missing.

District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary , MLA Mangaluru North Dr Bharat Shetty and others visited the mortuary at Wenlock hospital where the bodies were shifted.

    Rest in peace both fishermen, but this is not acceptable death, why owenrs of boats not proving life jackets or tubes , lacks of rupees they are earning thru fish but very leen intrest in life saving ,
    govt must bring compulsary law to all fishermen to wear life jackets while fishing and keep air tubes which will save thier life.

    Very sad news. My condolence to the family members of fishermen who lost their life. I urgent state Govt to provide maximum compensation to the victims family and provide job for any one of their family members.
