Nov 19: Dakshina Kannada records 54 fresh corona cases, two deaths; Udupi tally rises by 19

Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 19: As per the Dakshina Kannada health bulletin the district reported 54 fresh coronavirus cases on Thursday raising the tally to 31,438. Out of these, 665 cases are currently active.

A total of 3,18,605 samples have been tested. Out of which, 2,87,167 are negative.

As many as 54 people were discharged on Thursday, A total of 700 deaths have occured so far, including two on Thursday.

Over 13,493 mask violations were reported in the Dakshina Kannada district and Rs 14,59,642 in fines have been collected by the authorities.

Udupi

The coronavirus tally in the district has risen to 22,452, including 19 fresh cases on Thursday. Out of these, 208 cases are currently active.
Over 2,19,187 samples have been tested so far, of which 1,96,735 have turned out negative.

As many as 27 patients were discharged on Thursday. A total of 187 deaths have occured so far.

    Islamabad, Nov 19 (IANS): New coronavirus cases have started to surge again in Pakistan amid a second wave of pandemic, prompting the government to impose smart lockdowns in hotspots and ban all public gatherings across the country.

    The Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) government has also notified the return of a lockdown from next week, shutting down schools, wedding halls and beauty parlours, while the Punjab province has also extended smart lockdown in several coronavirus hotspots.

    The urgent decision came after Pakistan witnessed a major surge in single-day confirmed cases.

    Over 2,000 cases have been reported this week, raising serious concerns over the second wave.

    Health experts have described the second wave of the virus as "deadly contagious".

    The PoK government has issued a notification regarding the lockdown, to be imposed from November 22 to December 6, putting a complete ban on public gatherings.

    "All political, religious and social gatherings will be banned during the lockdown. However, prayers inside the mosques would be allowed subject to strict adherence to the anti-Covid standard operating procedures (SOPs). Funeral prayers will be restricted to 50 people.

    "All public and private sector educational institutions, including religious schools, wedding halls, shopping malls, barber shops, beauty parlors and private clinics will be closed. Dine-in facility in restaurants will also not be allowed but the take-away service will be permitted," the notification.

    It further said that government and semi-government offices will have only 50 per cent of staff attendance, while a complete ban on visitors will be imposed.

    Unless current tests conducted is shown with current positive results it is meaningless to show total tests conducted that too with dubious antigen tests.
