Nov 8: DK reports 78 new cases, 42 in Udupi; Rs 12.5 lac fine collected for mask violation so far

Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 8: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday November 8 reported 78 new coronavirus cases, while Udupi recorded 42 fresh cases.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in the district so far stands at 30,897.

As many as 98 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.

The district also reported one death, taking the toll to 688.

Over 11,516 cases of mask violation have been reported in the district so far, and Rs 12,57,467 in fines has been collected by the authorities. The majority of mask violations have been reported in the rural areas.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 1,97,620 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,175,417 have turned out to be negative.

A total of 42 cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 22,203, out of which only 187 are currently active.

As many as 41 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 21,639.

As many as 40 of the 42 patients are in home isolation, and only two have been admitted to COVID care centre/hospital.

Out of the 42 new cases, 21 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 29 of the 42 new cases, Kundapur recorded 6 and Karkala 7.
