Kundapur: Sea walk at Kodi provides unique, thrilling experience

Daijworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Nov 5: Taking a stroll at the Kodi sea walk provides the experience of a lifetime. On one side, sea waves lash at the wall. On the other side, you have the sun who can be seen bathing the sky in myriad colours. The power of the wind that makes the coconut trees sway provides a thrilling experience.

The sea walk that is about a kilometre long, has been built on the beach at Kodi near Kundapur. It transports the viewers to another world. The designs created by mindblowing hues splashed by the sun, cold air that sweeps across, and foam created by waves are enough to make the people forget all their trouble and just enjoy the moment. The protective wall of the breakwater at Kodi beach has been transformed into the sea walk. There are sea walks in other places too but the one at Kodi beach has no comparison.

The sea walks of one km at Panambur, Mangaluru, and the one that is three km long at Visakhapatnam have failed to attract tourists. But the sea walk at Kodi beach has been mesmerising the people. Hundreds of people enjoy a walk there every day while on Saturdays and Sundays the crowd swells to thousands.

There are ample opportunities for developing Kodi beach by the tourism department. However, at present, it lacks basic facilities. The beach has enough space to arrange boat rides and adventure water sports. When the number of tourists goes up, the local people get some employment opportunities. Karnataka government should take the cure from the Goan government to develop sea beaches. Good hotel, lodging, boating and watersports along with toilets, bathrooms etc at Kodi can bring a lot of changes and more and more tourists will get attracted to this sea walk.

Kundapur MLA, Halady Srinivas Shetty, says that Kodi beach is becoming a tourist attraction and he will try to get all facilities including toilets and bathrooms near the beach.

Kodi sky walk is the best among the rest !!!! Delightful location to relax, especially during sunset.. Believe me, it is a must visit, for all visitors to Uttara Kannada district.. Basic structures have to be available...The sea is rough, definitely not a place to swim, yes has a potential for tourism, which will benefit locals !!!
