Mangaluru, Oct 21: The NSS unit of St Agnes Degree College (Autonomous) on October 18 organized an online programme for the NSS volunteers on 'Goodwill yoga for a healthy life' to create awareness about the importance of maintaining health through yoga in daily life.

The programme began at 9.30 am with an introduction to the yoga session by Shrividya, the MC and anchor of the programme. Rathnashri initiated the programme with a prayer song, followed by a welcome speech and introduction of the resource person by Shwetha. The resource person for the session was Kavyashree, a yoga practitioner and a professional yoga trainer.

Kavyashree began the session with theoretical aspects related to yoga and its influence on the overall health of an individual which mainly included guidelines, rules and regulations to be followed while practicing yoga in daily life. This was followed by a practical demonstration of the different asanas to overcome or avoid health-related issues of the immune system, problems related to breathing and the respiratory tract, skin, eyes, digestion, migraine, irregular or painful periods in women, sleeplessness, stress, concentration and irritation, relaxation of body and mind. She ended the session by demonstrating Surya namaskar and by educating the audience on the benefits of practicing them daily for a healthy body and mind.
