Mangaluru International Airport set to be handed over to private operator

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 16: As part of the decision of the central government to hand over operation, development and maintenance of a few airports in the country to private hands, the process of entrusting the airport here to the hands of Adani Group of concerns led by Gautam Adani will be completed before the end of this month. With this, Mangaluru International Airport which was managed by the government for 69 years, will go to private hands.

Sources said that the entire process of handing over should be completed before November 12. As per sources, the airport will be officially managed by Adani Group with effect from Saturday October 24 midnight or November 1. Even after the process is completed, the Adani Group and Airports Authority of India will function in tandem with each other for a couple of years. During this period, finance, commercial activities at the terminal, profit-loss etc will be supervised by Adani Group while the authority will give preference to flight operations and will be overall guiding the entire system. The airlines were paying rent to the Airports Authority of India, but once the handing over is complete, Adani will manage the entire work. The staff will discharge duties as usual. After a year, Adani is likely to handle new appointments.

After the current handing over, air traffic control and communication and navigation centres supervision will remain with the Airports Authority. Except security staff and airline staff, Adani will manage terminal building, runway, electrical, civil work etc.

About 25 high level officials of Adani Group have studied the airport issues since the last couple of months. For a few months, the post of airport director will be in force after which the executive officer of Adani Group is expected to take over the affairs.

We the followers of BJP have been taught by BJP just to follow Dharma. It's not Dharma of Values, but Dharma of hate politics. We want to die just for it. Never mind losing everything.

Good that you realized about what is happening around. In the name of politics, you peoples' 'Hindu' sentiments are exploited. You guys are being blackmailed, intimidated saying if BJP does not establish ruling in India, the Majority tag of Hindu population will become Minority.

No, being Hindu is not wrong at all, an Indian can follow any religion but seeking votes on the basis of saving Hindu religion is wrong. Well, even if they sought votes, if they had given better governance than Congress did in past 70 years, I would have surrendered, would not have uttered one word. But the situation has gone from bad to worse.

Please people, understand what is happening to our nation. Bangladesh has recovered from blows of Covid-19, they are showing upwards growth of their economy. For them to have higher GDP is not that they have overtaken us, the reality is that we have fallen below them.

Please understand this and discuss it with your political representatives. Blaming Congress to shut your mouth is our politicians' trick. Do you want to listen to them and become worse than our poor neighbouring countries ?

What do you want in your life ? A secure job, happy family, ample job opportunities for you children, affordable housing/food/medical facilities, or chaos everywhere and poverty ? Think it over. Because by 2024, India will be exactly that and Modi will come again asking you to vote for him to bring India out of Covid-19 after shocks. You will once again surrender and vote for him.

I have realised and I want others to be realised. Hence I have dropped such comment. I feel pity for all those who never realise and hence we got to suffer. We are spoiling ourselves in the name of Dharma.

Present government is proved that they can't manage and handle the airports. For the last 69 years , Mangalore airport was manages by Government successfully ( what Congress has done for the past 70 year).

Dear voters learn now and act, before it is too late.

Following is the news we saw on Aug 25 :
    Quote
The operation and maintenance of Mangaluru International Airport will shortly be taken over by a German concern, Flughafen München GMBH. Adani group, which entered into an agreement with the Airports Authority of India for maintenance of Mangaluru, Ahmadabad and Lucknow airports, will be handing over these three airports for maintenance to the above German company through sub-contract.
    Unquote

Now, who will the existing staff of MIA work under ? Adani, or Flughafen ? How many retained, how many terminated ? Excellent way of Aatmanirbhar PM Modi's friends are practicing.

If a foreign company is to manage the airport, what is the role Adani's company playing ? Commission basis agent ? What currency will the commission be paid ? US$ ??

    Wah Modiji, Wah !

Great. I'm usually against privatization.. But this move was much needed..
Mangalore airport badly needs a revamp. Being in the hands of 69 year old new and the old govt, I've not seen any major improvements, They call it an international Airport.. But look at its state. Looks like a old gaming set up of a call of duty terminal which is haunted.
The road leading to the airport, the toll collection booth, The entry and exit and everything inside is just messed up,
Major Carriers are anyway keeping them self away from flying to this so called "table top" airport. Major chunk carrier slots are anyway gone to Kannur n kochi.

Let's see what Modi and his team (Adani) do..
Ache din are on our way.. Let's just hope we don't be in kacche after this.
