Oct 11: DK records 265 new corona cases, Udupi 170; six deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 11: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday October 11 recorded 265 fresh coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi reported 170 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 1,97,582 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,71,053 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 26,529, including 265 new cases reported on Sunday. Out of these, 4,180 cases are currently active.

As many as 283 people were discharged on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 21,744.

A total of 605 deaths have occured so far, including five on Sunday.

The district administration has stressed that people need to wear masks while stepping outside, and anyone not wearing mask in public places would be penalized. So far, 6,535 violations have been reported in the district, and a total of Rs 7,98,610 has been collected as fine.


Udupi

As per the Udupi district health bulletin, a total of 1,44,864 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,25,423 have turned out to be negative.

The coronavirus tally in the district has risen to 19,441, including 170 fresh cases on Sunday. Out of these, 1,965 cases are currently active.

As many as 135 patients were discharged on Sunday. The total number of recoveries has climbed to 17,276.

Out of the 170 new cases, 61 are asymptomatic. While Udupi reported 86 cases, Kundapur recorded 53, Karkala 29 and two were outside the district.

Among the 170, as many as 125 are in home isolation, while the rest have been admitted to Covid care centre or hospital.

One death was reported on Sunday. The patient who passed away was a woman aged 74 who had comorbidities.
