Sep 20: DK corona tally crosses 20K-mark with over 15K recoveries, Udupi records 293 new cases

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 20: Dakshina Kannada's coronavirus tally crossed the 20,000 mark on Sunday September 20 with 380 new cases and six deaths, while Udupi reported 293 new cases.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 20,134 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 4,550 are currently active. A total of 1,38,188 samples have been collected so far, out of which 1,18,054 are negative.

As many as 15,101 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 353 on Sunday. A total of 482 deaths have occured so far, including six on Sunday.

Among the 380 new cases, 139 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 8 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), 127 are primary contacts, and 106 are under investigation.

Out of the 380 cases, as many as 180 are from Mangaluru, 74 from Bantwal, 30 from Beltangady, 74 from Puttur, 12 from Sullia and 20 are from outside DK district. As many as 212 of the 380 patients are asymptomatic.

All the six patients who died on Sunday had comorbidities. While Mangaluru reported one death, Puttur reported two, and two more were of persons from outside the district.


Udupi

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 7,840 people are in COVID hospitals/care centres, including 82 fresh admissions on Sunday, while a total of 7,544 people are in home isolation, including 211 new on Sunday.

As many as 13,836 people, including 215 on Sunday, have been discharged from isolation so far. These include 6,901 from hospital isolation wards, and 6,935 from home isolation.

A total of 94,730 samples have been collected so far, including 1,202 on Sunday, out of which 806 are COVID suspects and 121 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 79,160 have turned out to be negative, including 920 on Sunday, and 179 reports are awaited.

As many as 15,391 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 293 on Sunday, and 1,415 cases are currently active. As per the district bulletin, 140 deaths have occured so far.

Among the 293 new cases, 123 are in Udupi, 95 in Kundapur, 70 in Karkala, and five from outside the district. Among them, 217 acquired the virus through contacts, 63 have ILI, seven have been diagnosed with SARI, and three are under investigation. Two have domestic travel history. As many as 137 out of 293 cases are asymptomatic.
