Sep 7: 152 new corona cases in DK; Udupi reports 113; 10 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 7: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, September 7 recorded 152 new cases and eight deaths, while Udupi reported 113 cases and two deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 15,078 positive cases have been reported to date, out of which 2,915 are currently active. A total of 1,07,145  samples have been tested so far, out of which 92,067 are negative.

As many as 11,754 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 313 on Monday. A total of 409 deaths have occurred so far, including eight on Monday.

Among the 152 new cases, 65 have influenza-like illness (ILI) and four have been diagnosed with a severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 83 cases are under investigation. As many as 83 out of the 152 are asymptomatic. Among them, as many as 71 are from Mangaluru, 32 from Bantwal, 18 from Puttur, 16 from Sullia, nine from Beltangady and six are from outside the Dakshina Kannada district.

All the eight patients who died on Monday had comorbidities. While Mangaluru reported three deaths, one from Puttur and four deaths were reported from outside Dakshina Kannada district.

Udupi

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 12,833 people are in COVID hospitals/care centres, including 25 fresh admissions on Monday, while a total of 5,737 people are in home isolation, including 88 new on Monday.

As many as 10,946 people, including 183 on Monday, have been discharged from isolation so far. These include 6,115 from hospital isolation wards and 4,831 from home isolation.

A total of 78,065 samples have been collected so far, including 236 on Monday, out of which 189 are COVID suspects and eight are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 65,034 have turned out to be negative, including 282 on Monday, and 191 reports are awaited.

As many as 12,840 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 113 on Monday, and 1,780 cases are currently active. As per the district bulletin, 114 deaths have occurred so far including two on Monday.

The two deaths were reported on Monday. Both were males from Udupi aged 55 and 21. Both had comorbidities.

Among the 113 new cases, 64 are in Udupi, 36 in Kundapur, five in Karkala, and eight from outside the district. Among them, five acquired the virus through contacts, 24 have ILI, two have been diagnosed with SARI, and 78 are under investigation. Four have domestic travelling history. Out of the 113 cases, 56 are asymptomatic.
