Frankly, I am at a loss to know the reason behind shifting the booking office to the Airport. Air India owns the premises at Lalbaugh - it doesn't have to pay rent - so what sense does it make not to have an office in the city? I just heard that the Mangalore airport is to be taken over by the Adani group. Probably, this move is just to help them? One more instance of the so called desh bhakthi? No doubt, the government owned companies like BSNL and Air India are not doing well. But is it not incumbent on the government to nurse them back to health?

The primary and only central duty, of any government is to run the administration efficiently, It should not be seen as a business house, running industrial empires. Just take a hard look at all our PSU under the control of the government of India. Not one of these numerous utilities, are profitable !!! They are " White elephants " surviving on precious tax paid revenues !! Air India is a drain on our national treasury, should be auctioned off at the earliest !!!!

Like to remind the AI passengers : prior to Close-Down Jet Airways service, also moved their office from City Point (Ram Bhavan ) to Airport. " Samajne walon ko Ishara kaffi hai" Tata is more likely to Take-Over!

They do not pick their working number even after 100 attempts, getting connected is like hitting a jackpot!. God alone need to help in case of any emergency. No point talking about their service and customer service be it Middle East or India.

There should be 2 offices at least in Mangalore.
One Airport office which is working 24x7 and one city office with at least 2 -3 counters.
I think one day Airport Office will also close and slowly Air India also close.

Gujarathi businessmen want to cut costs and increase profit at any cost... Gujju management of the airport must have tempted/enticed AI to shift to Airport itself so that they (i.e. Airport Gujuu Management) get huge rental income from AI...

air india booking office should b in heart of the city where everyone can reach without any hassle\? why it is shifted at Mangalore airport. who wants to go mangalore airport to book tickets?? what logic in this??
this will generate income to Adani i guess. one who wish to go to airport to book ticket has to go by car and airport will get parking charges. there by income to the airport .

When the government is hell bent on closing the airline there is only one direction it is going, DOWN.
The government doesn't want customers for it's airline and the same will be directed to the rival airlines. The Navaratna companies that shone all these years are going bust because of the destructive mindset of this government.
Air India was used for the vande bharat missions with little profit for the airline.
So all you people start saying Good bye to the once prestigious airline...

This will be very inconvenient for those without vehicle. Autos will charge exorbitantly from the main road due to absence of bus services.

In which world are you living ?

When the flights get cancelled due to their mismanagement, it is a nightmare to rebook the flight online.  Apart from that their website gets blocked many times &  we have to take leave & rush to their office for booking or any changes to be done, they hardly pick up the office phone.

I fly frequently and don't recollect visiting any offices in the near past. Rebookings, cancellations and refunds of most of the airlines are smooth online. May be you should come out of the well.
