Bengaluru, Aug 26: Sports must get equal importance as education and needs all support and encouragement, Sowmya Reddy, Congress MLA from Jayanagar, said in Bengaluru on Wednesday August 26.

She was speaking after inaugurating an international stand swimming pool with all modern amenities including cold and hot water pools for all types of people including children and adults in Byrasandra ward of Jayanagar assembly constituency.

“This is the most modern and well-equipped international standard swimming pool and the first-of-its-kind facility in the entire State,’’ she said urging all sections of people to make use of the swimming pool for maintaining good health.

She said sports and athletics must be encouraged from childhood not only to become good athletes and sportsmen but also to stay healthy, which is essential if students were to excel in education.

The swimming pool is spread over one and half acres and has sufficient parking space besides training facilities and over 25 coaches to train people, said Byrasandra BBMP Corporator N Nagaraj.

The swimming pool is adjacent to the Kittur Rani Chennamma playground and has facilities for all kinds of sports and games besides tracks for races.
