Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada lifts Covid restrictions, opens up all borders

Mangaluru, Aug 25: The state government, in its order issued on Monday August 24, clarified that passengers coming into Karnataka from other states need not undergo medical checks at the borders if they are COVID asymptomatic and that they need not be quarantined. On the basis of this order, Dakshina Kannada district administration has decided to open all its borders for passengers.

By way of clarification, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V, said that as per the revised rules, passengers entering Karnataka from other states need not undergo quarantine and there will not be checks at the borders. All the borders have been opened with effect from Monday evening, and there are no restrictions on people coming in from other states including Kerala and Maharashtra, he added.

But people from Karnataka visiting other states have to follow the rules prevailing in the respective states.

Pass rule violation agitation

In The meantime, protesting against the Kerala government's stand to go ahead with restrictions on visitors to the state like allowing only people having passes, BJP will be leading a pass violation agitation at the district border on Tuesday. Under this programme, BJP activists will enter Karnataka without passes and then return to Kerala. BJP Kasargod district president, Srikanth, will inaugurate the agitation.

    It's a decision taken in the right perspective. Is there some other rule for international passengers. It should be the same in all respects as far as the passengers are of Indian origin as the virus is internationally infected.
