Mangaluru: DC K V Rajendra issues orders to be followed during Ganeshotsava

Mangaluru, Aug 18: Deputy commissioner K V Rajendra has released revised guidelines that are needed to be followed during the traditional Ganeshotsava which falls on August 22.

The revised guidelines are as follows:

1. The festival can be celebrated with devotion in a simple manner in the residences, government, private or public places in the open with the participation of a minimum number of people.

2. The idol should not exceed a height of four feet in public places and two feet in houses.

3. Traditional Ganeshotsava committees or local bodies should obtain prior permission from corporations/municipalities. An idol each can be installed in the ward and village.

4. The premises should be arranged so as to accommodate a maximum of 20 people. Devotees or people above 20 in number are not permitted.

5. Entertainment, cultural programmes, music or dances are banned at the venue of the celebrations.

6. Processions or celebrations are banned when the idol is brought or immersed.

7. Those who conduct rituals at home can immerse the idol in nearby mobile tankers, artificial tankers meant for immersion or the ponds prepared by local bodies.

8. The concerned temples and public places should be sanitized daily. Devotees should be provided sanitizer and should be subjected to thermal scanning.

9. A distance of six feet should be marked for devotees and make sure that they maintain the distance.

10. Devotees and people should mandatorily wear face masks.

11. All the guidelines should be followed that have been laid down by the centre and the state to curb the spread of the pandemic. People should also compulsorily follow the guidelines by the health department, police department, city corporation, environment control board, fire brigade, district administration and other departments.

12. All the directions and guidelines released by the government, district administration, police, corporation and the local authority for the Ganeshotsava festival from time to time should be adhered to.

13. Make sure that the celebrations do not adversely affect the peace and harmony of society.

If any person violates the law or orders stated, suitable legal action as per relevant acts will be taken against the concerned.
