Aug 11: 243 corona cases in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi reports 219; 13 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru, Aug 11: Dakshina Kannada (DK) on Tuesday August 11 recorded 243 new cases and nine deaths. As many as 219 fresh cases were reported in Udupi along with four deaths.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 7,596 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 2,625 are currently active. As many as 4,734 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 519 on Tuesday which includes 63 from Covid care centres, 394 from home isolation and 62 from hospitals. A total of 237 deaths have occurred so far, including nine on Tuesday.

Among the 243 new cases, 123 have influenza-like illness (ILI), nine have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), 23 are primary contacts, and 88 are under investigation.

Out of the 243 cases, as many as 189 are from Mangaluru, 30 from Bantwal, 6 from Puttur, 4 from Sullia, 10 from Beltangady and 4 are from outside DK district. As many as 137 of the 243 cases are symptomatic while 106 are asymptomatic. As many as 161 are males and 74 are females in Tuesday’s total cases.

All except one patient who died on Tuesday had comorbidities. While Mangaluru reported eight deaths, one death was of a person from outside the district.

Udupi

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, as many as 3,768 people, including 183 on Tuesday, have been discharged from isolation so far.

Out of the total samples, 1,203 have turned out to be negative on Tuesday, and 1,610 reports are awaited.

As many as 6,503 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 219 on Tuesday, and 2,676 cases are currently active. As per the district bulletin, 66 deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.

Among the four deaths on Tuesday, one is a 35-year-old male from Karkala, a 48-year-old male from Byndoor, and two males aged 41 and 66 from Udupi.

Among the 219 new cases, 115 are in Udupi, 68 in Kundapur, 33 in Karkala, and three from outside the district. Among them, 64 acquired the virus through contacts, 39 have ILI, two have been diagnosed with SARI, and 112 are under investigation. One each have domestic and international travel history. As many as 91 patients are under home isolation. As many as 58 patients are symptomatic and 161 patients asymptomatic.

    People should know who are all dying and their age and their location. Looks like DK administration is hiding the proper information . Media should ask for proper report. When celebrates and politicians recover and discharged from hospitals why the common people die from COVID 19.
