Aug 10: 146 new corona cases in Dakshina Kannada, 90 in Udupi; 11 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru, Aug 10: Dakshina Kannada on Monday August 10 recorded 146 fresh cases and eight deaths. As many as 90 new cases were reported in Udupi along with three deaths.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 7,353 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 2,910 are currently active. As many as 4,215 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 533 on Monday. A total of 228 deaths have occurred so far, including eight on Monday.

Among the 146 new cases, 81 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 16 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), 15 are primary contacts, and 30 are under investigation. Four have international travelling history.

Out of the 146 cases, as many as 94 are from Mangaluru, 11 from Bantwal, 7 from Puttur, 1 from Sullia, 16 from Beltangady and 17 are from outside DK district. As many as 97 of the 146 cases are symptomatic while 49 are asymptomatic. As many as 87 are males and 59 are females in today’s total 146 cases.

All the eight patients who died on Monday had comorbidities. While Mangaluru reported four deaths, Beltangady reported one, and three deaths were of people from outside the district.

Udupi

As many as 90 positive cases were reported in Udupi district on Monday. Further three deaths were also reported. A 62-year-old female and 79-year-old male from Kundapur and 81-year-old male from Udupi have been identified as the deceased.
