Ajman, Aug 7: Sheesha cafes in the emirate will reopen on August 9 with strict precautionary measures, the Ajman Municipality announced.

In a circular issued on Thursday, the municipality listed health measures to be carried out upon reopening of the smoking areas and sheesha cafes. The staff members should wear masks while at the cafes and adhere to strict hand washing routine after serving every customer. The social distancing of two metres must be followed between the tables and only four people should be allowed in each table. No gatherings or parties will be permitted.

Further, temperature checks are mandatory for all the visitors and those with a temperature above 37.5 degree Celsius are to be prohibited from entering the premises, the circular said.

The municipality has also asked the sheesha cafes to follow health and safety guidelines at the staff accommodation and transportation facilities and ensure frequent cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and common areas, a report by Khaleej Times stated.

In order to prevent infection, the employees should furnish a COVID-19 negative test result before operating at the facility. The cafes are also asked to keep a record of all the staff and visitors to enable contact tracing in future, if necessary.

Only disposable sheesha hoses are permitted and sheeshas should be washed after every use.
