Sunday lockdown, night curfew to continue in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru/Udupi (SP)

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 25: Karnataka has decided to continue with its policy of Sunday lockdowns as a measure to combat spread of coronavirus infection.

Similarly, lockdown will be in force on Sundays and curfew in the night from Monday to Saturday, in both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Sindhu B Rupesh and Udupi G Jagadeesha, confirmed that both the districts will be under night curfew followed by lockdown starting at 9 pm on Saturday.

A week-long lockdown was imposed in Dakshina Kannada which was lifted on Thursday morning.

Earlier in the week on Tuesday, chief minister (CM) Yediyurappa had addressed the people through his social media pages regarding the decision on lockdown. The CM had made it clear that there would be no further lockdown in the state. He further maintained that the people would have to learn live amid the pandemic by following health regulations, maintaining social distancing and using masks while stepping out of the house.

Stop this Drama of lock down....just improve the immunity of the people. Corona has already reached community level although Government will never admit this.

Who roam around at night? If anyone goes outside at night, that means they may have urgency or important work to do. They may travel from one city to other or going to the hospitals in emergency cases.

Rather than imposing night curfew , day curfew, educate people how to protect them self from the virus. Distribute free masks, sanitization and keep the city clean.

Provide more spaces in the fish market and local markets where people gather in large number, instal proper ventilator etc. , Onlly anoucing sunday lockdown doesnot make any effect.

What difference it shall make if Sundays are opened up, like any other days ? Mask wearing and Social Distancing must be made compulsory, even to the so called VVIP's, or Neta's and their Chelas. If Government can't implement this strictly, then leave it to aam admi whether they wear it or not do not bother. Even the Night Curfew, I really do not know what benefit it will have, when the Bars or Clubs or Theaters are already closed.

What about the markets in Mangalore there is no social distancing, the vendors and staff in the markets rarely use the mask. There is no thermal screening in the local markets, but if you have to enter a supermarket, mall there is thermal screening. I cannot understand the reason behind this.
