Udupi: DC Jagadeesha issues new guidelines for containment zones

Udupi, Jul 23: Udupi district commissioner G Jagadeesha has released new guidelines for containment areas on Thursday, July 23. These orders have been implemented from July 22.

A new set of norms have been declared to be followed in the containment zones and a set of relaxation norms for the containment-free zones.

Complete lockdown will be imposed in the containment areas. The public movement has been banned in containment areas and only emergency medical services and necessary services will be allowed to operate.

In non-containment zones, activities are allowed as per the Health & Family Welfare department's orders and notifications. The activities should be strictly in accordance with the norms issued by the government.

The Sunday lockdown will continue in the district until July 31. Only the movement of necessary items and health sector activities are allowed to operate. Permission is given for the opening of petrol pumps, clinical lab, hospital, milk booths and newspapers. Hotels can provide parcel service and food delivery chains are allowed to operate.

The district borders have been allowed to open against the prior orders of 15 days border seal down. The checkposts in borders will continue to operate. Unnecessary movement is banned. Those travelling to and fro should carry necessary documents and proceed to the checkpost while travelling. Public bus transport will be allowed between districts.

Fines will be imposed for violating social distancing and or failing to wear masks in public spaces. Spitting in public is also prohibited and fines will be imposed. According to the Unlock 2.0 norms of state government, night curfew is strictly imposed in the district of Udupi. Criminal cases will be imposed for the violation of these norms, the guidelines stated.

    IMHO, the transmission has reached to an exponential stage where all these measures will be counterproductive! It's high time people get back on track, with available safety measures, to earn their daily bread!

    DC G Jagadeesha, I fully agree with your new guidelines for containment zones. In fact it should be for other districts as many of them are not following the said guidelines. That is the reason the COVID-19 cases are going up day-by-day. The guidelines given to the people should be adhered to if this ready disease causes more damage.
