TDSAT reserves order on VIL's plea against TRAI order

New Delhi, Jul 16 (IANS): The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Thursday reserved its judgement on Vodafone Idea's petition against the TRAI's directive blocking its premium 'RedX' plan.

The verdict is likely to be announced by Friday.

Defending its directive, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) told the tribunal that its action of blocking the plan was a prudent and proportionate exercise of statutory power.

Citing violation of norms and likely impact on the quality of services for other subscribers out of the concerned plans, the regulator, through a letter to both Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel last week, blocked their respective plans of 'RedX' and 'Platinum', that offer faster data speeds and priority services to high-paying postpaid customers.
