Gadag, Jul 11: A soldier has become a role model for others by opting to confine himself in quarantine in the tractor-trailer stationed in his field. The soldier who has set an example for others happens to be Prakash Haigar, a native of Antoor-Bentoor village in Gadag taluk. The general public are not tired of hailing him for his unique initiative.

Prakash Haigar presently is posted as a member of ITBF in Arunachal Pradesh. He has come home on holiday and he has opted to undergo self-quarantine. He has already completed six days of quarantine period with eight more days to go. His brothers who bring food prepared at home go back after placing it about five metres away.

After he came to know that during his home visit on holiday, he had to undergo quarantine, instead of opting to undergo quarantine at the government or hotel quarantine centres, he obtained district administration permission and started to live in his tractor-trailer which is stationed in the middle of his field. Wooden pillars have been planted for about 30 feet radius and Prakash lives there alone. He washes his clothes and attends to his ablutions there.

After making sure that a temporary shed was built for him with the tractor-trailer in the middle, he directly went there. He wants to enter his village after completing the remaining eight days quarantine.

Prakash came to Bengaluru by flight from Arunachal Pradesh and then reached his village by a private vehicle. He also underwent COVID test at Bengaluru and got a negative result. But at the advice of the doctors at Bengaluru to undergo home quarantine, he lives alone in his field, to ensure that no one else gets infected because of him, bracing rain, wind, and hot sun.

Prakash, a member of the joint family, said he has opted on his own to undergo quarantine and said he chose to live in the field as he would be in his village. He said although his result was negative, he wanted to make sure that no one else faces problems because of him.
