UAE government, leaders extend support to Mars mission; Change Twitter logo

Dubai, Jul 11: As a sign to show their support for the UAE's historic mission to Mars next week, the UAE government and its departments, leaders and UAE embassies worldwide have changed their Twitter profile pictures to 'Hope Probe 2020, Arab to Mars'.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai took to changing its profile picture after the UAE handle @UAEGov led the way. Among those who followed were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

The first planetary science mission from the Arab world which is headed by the UAE will take off on July 15 from Tanegashima Space Center, Japan.

The Hope Probe designed to study how the upper atmosphere of the Red Planet is affected by its lower atmosphere is set to go into orbit in February 2021.
