Unlock day 27: 75 corona cases in Dakshina Kannada, three deaths; Udupi reports 19 cases on Jul 4

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 4: On the 27th day of easing lockdown, Dakshina Kannada on Saturday July 4, reported 75 fresh cases and three deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 19 new cases.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 47,885 people have been screened so far, including 58 on Saturday.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 15,270 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 13,221 have turned out negative, and 1,095 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 557 are currently active. As many as 516 persons have recovered and been discharged including 13 on Saturday, and 22 deaths have occurred so far including three on Saturday.

As many as 13 patients, nine males and four females, were discharged from Wenlock on Saturday.

Five patients, three males and two females, are serious and being treated in the ICU.

As many as 560 samples were sent for testing on Saturday. Test reports of 75 people came as positive. Reports of 954 samples are awaited.

Of the 75 who tested positive on Saturday, 47 are males and 28 females, including 10 children. Among the 75 new patients, 11 have returned from Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Dubai, 29 are diagnosed with influenza-like illness (ILI), six are diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and 25 were primary and secondary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of 4 patients is on. Further, a 10-day-old baby is also tested positive. She is the primary contact of P- 1382 who was in quarantine.

The district recorded three deaths on Saturday. The victim were a 67-year-old male and a two women aged 60 and 65. The 67-year-old male was Mangaluru who died on July 2, while the 60-year-old female was from Sullia and the other from Mangaluru died on July 3. Their swab samples which were collected after their death tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.

A total of 75 persons have been admitted for observation.

Altogether, 7,291 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 31 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.

Udupi

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,869 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including three on Saturday, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,034 persons are currently under home quarantine.

A total of 109 people are in isolation wards, including 28 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among them, 11 are coronavirus suspects, nine have SARI and eight influenza-like illness.

As many as 1,072 people, including 11 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 17,545 samples have been collected so far, including 1,047 on Saturday, out of which 84 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 14,556 samples have turned out to be negative, including 733 on Saturday, and 1,712 reports are awaited.

As many as 1,277 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 19 on Saturday. As many as 1,114 patients have been discharged so far including 10 on Saturday, and 160 cases are currently active. Three deaths have occurred so. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.

As many as 19 new cases were reported in the district on Saturday. Among them, one is a Maharashtra returnee while three have come from another district, and 14 are primary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of one patient is in progress.

During this time of crisis all differences across parties should be kept aside and work together for humanity sake. We have already reached community transmission. We are left to fend for ourselves now.. Now it's all about ourselves and our families that's it..!

    Isolation and quarantine is the only way ahead..
    But we will achieve corona free zone soon, when out station arrival completely stops..
