'First-of-its-kind, UUDA layout to come up in Udupi’ - Raghavendra Kini

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Jun 29: BJP leader Raghavendra Kini took charge as the chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) here on Monday, June 29.

He took charge in the presence of district commissioner G Jagadeesha, MLA Raghupathi Bhat and AC K Raju. The commissioner and the MLA Raghupathi Bhat congratulated the newly appointed president as well as the newly appointed members.

Raghavendra after taking charge he addressed the media saying that he would commit to work for the people and put all sincere efforts towards the public interest. “From today, UUDA will work as a people-friendly office. I will put a sincere effort into solving public problems. As there is a dream project of having a UUDA Layout in 10 acres of land, I will work on that towards making systematic and model layout exemplary to the state. I will be available between 11 am to 1 pm daily at the UUDA office. If it is necessary, people can come to the office to meet me. Or else, we will launch people-friendly service in the days to come." he said.

Speaking on the occasion DC Jagadeesha said the government priorities must be considered while planning for the layouts. Another point to be focused is having proper road facilities to avoid disputes and should be careful in dealing with private lands. In some areas people are dependent on private roads, the commissioner said.

"Another dream project is the rejuvenation of lakes and rivers in the district. Over Rs 5 crore action plan is ready and submitted to the government. We have enough funds to start that project," he added.

Meanwhile, MLA Raghupati Bhat said that the master plan of UUDA was ready to be approved during the tenure of Priyanka Mary Francis as the district commissioner. But due to digitalization, it was stopped. It would be completed by March, he assured.

"There is a problem of zonal conversion of land. In order to get it done people should go to Bengaluru. Hence, approval for the master plan is essential. We have submitted an amendment of ZRR. There are more than 1000 applications waiting for approval. There is a need to liberalize ZRR norms," Bhat said.

Bhat added saying that there is no UUDA layout in the city so far. As many as 28 acres of land has been identified near LVT for the project. Only 45 per cent layouts are official in the city, he said.

Newly appointed members of the urban development authority Suma Naika, Dinakar Poojary, Pravin Kumar Shetty Kuvettu and Kishore Kumar were present among others.
