Mangaluru: Rotary Vandana Award conferred on Dr Vinaya Hegde

Mangaluru, Jun 28: Eminent educationist and industrialist Dr N Vinaya Hegde was conferred the prestigious annual state-level Vandana Award by the Rotary Cub, in a function held on Saturday June 27 at Ocean Pearl Hotel.

The award was conferred on him in recognition of his exemplary achievements and in appreciation of his contributions in the field of education, industry, healthcare and community service. The award is jointly instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotaract Club of Mangalore City.

District in-charge minister and state minister for port and fisheries Kota Srinivas Poojary graced the occasion as chief guest and said that Dr Hegde's contributions and achievements in the field of education is invaluable and commendable. He later presented the award and congratulated him. He also lauded the Rotary Club's community service. He then released the Rotary Club's new flag.

Responding to the felicitation Dr Hegde said that whatever he has achieved, he owes it to God’s grace, parents blessings and honest work of his staff members. He also expressed his gratitude to Rotary for honouring him.

Rotary district assistant governor Rtn Geethanand Pai graced the occasion as guest of honour and congratulated the Club on securing record 20 district awards in this year. He later released the Club's weekly bulletin 'Centor'. On this occasion the Club's charter president Rtn Premnath Kudva and charter member Rtn Sathish Pai were felicitated for serving the club for the past 34 years.

Chairman of the award selection committee Dr Devdas Rai in his introductory address revealed that the annual Vandana Award that is conferred on achievers is part of the Club's vocational service project. He congratulated Dr Vinaya Hegde on his unique achievements in the field of education, industry, healthcare and community service.

President elect Rtn Prakashchandra presided over the function. Secretary Rtn K M Hegde presented the annual report, past president Rtn Santhosh Shet, district rotaract representative Rtr Ganesh and others were present. Rotaract Club president Rtr Sheldon Crasta proposed the vote of thanks.

    Dr Vinaya Hedge more than deserves the prestigious Rotary Vandana award in recognition of his services to the community and people at large.

    The award was conferred on him in recognition of his exemplary achievements and in appreciation of his contributions in the field of education, industry, healthcare and community service.

    I have had an opportunity to spend a weekend at his Guest House some years ago when I had an opportunity to meet the legend. I join scores of people in congratulation Dr. Hegde

    Bestowing medals and honours to certain people only by various organizations is become routine. Once a person achieve his success give break and encourage other upcoming entrepreneurs who are available in a lot. Singer Lata Mangeshkar decided not to take awards for sake of other young sensational singers to groom them for future. After a person become a public figure stop giving them more of awards. Ours pooulation of 130 crores...select one from them.
