Monsoon turns weak - Orange alert for next three days in coastal Karnataka

Bengaluru, Jun 27: Since the last some days, monsoon winds have become weak in coastal Karnataka, resulting in less rainfall. While the rainfall in north and south interior Karnataka continued to be good, the coastal districts had a below par rainfall.

Kunigall in Tumakuru district recorded 14 cm rainfall, the highest in the state. Shortage of rainfall since the last some days was made good to some extent by heavy rain which was experienced on Friday night which also affected vehicular traffic as the water got accumulated in low lying areas. During the day on Friday, the coast experienced hot, sunny, and humid climate.

The meteorological department has issued orange alert from June 27 to 29 and yellow alert on June 30 and July 1 in the coast.
