Mangaluru, Jun 18: To meet the prevailing and growing healthcare needs, K S Hegde Medical Academy, a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, has introduced a two-year Master of Hospital Administration & Health Systems Management (MHAHSM) programme, for those seeking to lead the hospital and health systems of the future.
K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Medical Council of India, New Delhi. It has been ranked 36th by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020, government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), among the Medical Colleges in India. Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, the 1000-bed teaching hospital attached to the college provides tertiary-level care including all major super-specialty services and excellent training opportunities to the students of KSHEMA.
There has been a remarkable growth in the hospital industry in India and across the globe, which has increased the popularity of the hospital management related courses. The demand for professional administrators in hospitals and healthcare settings is increasing on account of the nature of work in hospitals, which is quite different compared to other organisations. The MHAHSM programme provides students the required knowledge and experience, to pursue a wide range of healthcare related careers. This master's degree will give the graduates an in-depth understanding of the regulatory procedures, financial management, legal concerns, human resources, health technology, policy-making and public relations of a hospital or a healthcare set up.
MHAHSM is a two-year (4 semester), full-time programme offered by KSHEMA. Applications are currently being accepted for 2020-21 batch.
Candidates seeking admission should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline which includes Medical, Dental, AYUSH, Veterinary, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Public Health, Management, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition, Biostatistics, Psychology, Commerce, Science, Arts, Law, Agriculture from any recognized Indian university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
