Mangaluru, Jun 7: The coronavirus outbreak has undoubtedly resulted in severe economic crisis. Almost all businesses, big or small, were completely shut for over two months. Now with 'unlock 1.0' being announced by the government, businesses are gradually opening with enhanced safety measures. However, with coronavirus cases still spiking every day, it will take time for business activity to resume normalcy. The gradual reopening of business establishments is nevertheless expected to kickstart the economy that has remained dormant for the past couple of months.
Malls permitted to reopen after over two months of complete shutdown will have to strictly follow certain guidelines specified by the administration, such as hygiene, social distancing, wearing of masks and so on.
City Centre Mall is all set to resume its business from Monday, June 8. Authorities have instructed to adhere to all preventive and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all customers, retailers and vendors at the mall.
The mall management has taken the following steps:
- Proper measures are taken to follow social distancing protocol.
- Placement of the floor stickers at entry points to maintain social distancing.
- Body temperature thermal scanners are kept at all entry points.
- Customers entering the mall without mask will be offered with cloth masks at concessional rate.
- Contact-less hand sanitizers will be used at all entry points.
- Separate entry and exit paths are provided.
- Entry points are available for the customers at B and D levels (basement floor), lower and upper ground main entrance, 5th floor Spar entry from ramp, 6th floor and 7th floor (parking).
- Training/briefing conducted on personal hygiene and control of movement of visitors for all security staff .
- Proper measures taken in the material entry gate for scanning and sanitizing the labourers and materials.
- Training/briefing conducted on personal hygiene, mall sanitization and thorough cleaning for all the housekeeping staff.
- Fumigation done throughout the mall.
- Toilets and floors are cleaned and disinfected, and adequate toiletries kept in stock.
- All customer touch points are sanitized.
- Disinfection of wheelchairs after every use.
- Waste bins are placed on each floor for people to dispose off their mask, gloves and used tissues when required. The disposed items will be disinfected properly and disposed.
- Air conditioning would be provided in the mall for a temperature of 24-30 degrees as per the government norms.
- Controlled customer entry as per social distancing norms.
- All customers and staff entering the mall will be screened for body temperature with thermal scanners and ensure that they follow the COVID-19 precautionary protocol.
- Customers with body temperature above normal temperature and having cough will not be allowed to enter the mall.
- Strict enforcement of mandatory face mask.
- Customers shall enter the mall in queue maintaining social distance.
- Care will be taken to prevent crowding of people in the corridors and parking areas.
- Deep cleaning, pest control, and disinfection protocol will be followed by the housekeeping staff.
- Overcrowding of lifts will not be allowed.
- Training/briefing conducted on personal hygiene and mall sanitization for all housekeeping staff.
- Customer and staff touch points to be sanitized using disinfectants every hour.
- Disposable glasses provided for drinking water in the mall.
The customers visiting the mall are asked to follow the guidelines above for their personal and others' safety. In such times, cooperation from all stakeholders is highly essential to keep the situation under control.
