Bengaluru: KPCC ceremony postponed - Shivakumar smells political conspiracy

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 2: The ceremony planned for D K Shivakumar's elevation as the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPC) on June 7 has been postponed again. The last time the ceremony was scheduled for May 31 but as the government took a decision in favour of complete lockdown on Sundays, the programme was fixed for June 7.

But as per the guidelines bought about by the central and state governments now, no political functions or meetings can be held till June 8. As a result, Shivakumar's plan of attracting attention of the state was foiled for a second time in succession.

Shivakumar has expressed his resentment, and accused the government of issuing guideline that is causing problem for him. Addressing a press meet at the KPCC office on Monday, he said that he will arrange for oath taking ceremony only after the government gives its permission.

He said he started work as the state president of the party from the moment he was given that responsibility. "I have been guiding our workers. We are giving support to the government. I have been becoming the voice of all classes of people wherever the government has failed," he said. He said that the normal practice is to symbolically take over charge but he had planned it in a unique manner.

"As many as 150 people will come together at Bengaluru for the programme. At panchayat and ward levels, programmes will be simultaneously held. We will sing patriotic 'Vande Mataram' song, recite the preamble to the constitution and take oath," he said.

Shivakumar said he had requested the chief minister and police commissioner to permit to hold the programme on June 7 but as per the guideline issued now, holding of the programme has been banned. He felt that this is a political conspiracy. He also expressed anger at the assembly speaker for obstructing the work of Public Accounts Committee and said a decision on moving breach of privilege motion against the speaker will be taken by the party.

I have given in my comments regarding DKS oath taking. I mentioned two months back BJP Government will not lift the lockdown and will give trouble to Congress. I told that when Congress gave date for oath taking on 31st. That time Government extended the lockdown till that day. Then Congress gave a fresh date 7th June. Now Government extended the date to 7th. Now again Congress has postponed the date and Government is waiting for the fresh date. But I feel that Government is going to postpone till month end. Because Government is not study, that's why they behave like this ,in the name of Covid19 they postpone lockdown.
