Media Release

Dubai, May 24: It is the sixth year in succession that Fortune Group of Hotels have been successfully organizing Blood Donation Camp at Dubai. This drive is an annual event hosted by the members of Fortune family to commemorate the wedding anniversary of Sarojini and Narayan Shetty, the proud parents of Praveen Shetty chairman, Fortune Group of Hotels.

The Camp aims at spreading awareness among the community on the importance of blood donation and how a drop of blood donated can be instrumental in saving a life.

"During a crisis, we see the best of humanity when people step up and help their neighbours. Giving blood is considered an essential community service. This is an extraordinary time and amidst the coronavirus pandemic, if we do not come out and donate blood, there are worries of potential blood shortages in the future," he maintained.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Praveen Shetty took the responsibility seriously by practising social distancing and donating blood.

Speaking on the occasion, he reiterated the need of blood from blood banks and said, "Social distancing does not have to mean social disengagement, these two activities are not mutually exclusive, we will go a long way in keeping community members healthy by slowing the spread of the virus and by ensuring that patients across the country receive lifesaving blood."

"We understand that people have concerns right now about all aspects of public health, but we want to stress that donating blood is a safe process and people should not hesitate to donate. It is important to note that blood drives have the highest standards of safety and infection control," he added.

The organizers under the medical supervision made sure the space between the beds was maintained as per guidelines. They also followed social distancing practices between blood donors and also staggered donor appointment to reduce the number of people arriving at the drive at a given time.

The drive was supported by generous participation from the members and family of KNRI Forum (Karnataka Non-Resident Indians Forum), well-wishers and friends of Praveen Shetty.
