Bengaluru, May 20: Evaluation of second PU answer sheets will begin on May 21 at select evaluation centres. The department of PU education has made all preparations for the speedy completion of evaluation work. Now, all answer sheets except English examination which is yet to be held, will be evaluated on a war footing.

The second PU English examination has been fixed for June 18. The department has planned to complete evaluation work of other answer sheets before that date, sources said. But the department has not set any deadline for the completion of evaluation work.

The in-charge officers of evaluation centres as well as supervisors have been appointed by the department of PU education. The people appointed to undertake this work reported for duties at the centres located at Hubballi, Davanagere, Belagavi, Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Mysuru, reports said.

It is said that the deadlines would be fixed based on the number of answer sheets allotted. The teachers however, cannot evaluate more than 124 answer sheets on a single day.

The department has decentralized examination centres. In the past, teachers set to evaluate answer sheets in their subjects, had to travel to the respective districts. If the centre fixed for evaluating economics paper is Mysuru, the teachers from other districts had to travel there. Now, the teachers have got an opportunity to evaluate answer sheets in their respective districts.

Once evaluation work is over, the officials will conduct checks and take steps to enter the data in computers.

In view of coronavirus scare, the department has issued certain guidelines to lecturers undertaking this work. The lecturers concerned have to bring their own masks, sanitizers, and water bottles. They need to often use sanitizers to sanitize their hands. In case the areas where they reside are designated as containment zones, they should share this information with the officers. People who are under home quarantine or where their family members are in quarantine, are exempted from undertaking evaluation work.
