Mangaluru, May 19: A bus of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) began its journey to the city from Bengaluru on Tuesday, May 19. This happens to be the first bus bound for the city since lockdown was enforced.

It is learnt that the bus is carrying 29 passengers. No buses will ply between the two cities after 11 am as KSRTC plans to ensure that all the buses reach their destination districts before 7 pm.

People have formed queues to take the buses to their destinations at the bus station here, and each bus carries 30 passengers. KSRTC sources say that the buses will leave the bus station once the capacity of 30 passengers is reached.

A total of 45 buses ferry passengers between the city and Bengaluru every day. However, within Dakshina Kannada district, none of the buses will be on the road today.

Pregnant women, people aged over 60 and below ten are not being allowed to travel by KSRTC buses for the present. Bus services are now being run to Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi and Shivamogga from here.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Please do something so that govt. should accept request of Pvt bus operators for weaving 6 months tax. Otherwise they will not start bus service. Ordinary man requires buses to run for going to work. Please raise an issue.

Someone tell these public, masks are meant to cover their mouth and nose, and not for just show off and escape from police. Many are wearing just name sake. even officials\media dont know the purpose of masks and publish the pics as such.

    Good...
US firm called Moderna has developed a vaccine which has promising results for even with low dose it seems..
Firm said healthy people developed antibodies after vaccine which is equivalent to antibodies developed in recovered covid 19 patients...

I didn't understand if recovered patients are safe from contracting virus again?? If they are safe, that means this vaccine likely to work...

The results are of the phase 1 trial which is of the safety of the vaccine and not the efficacy.

How one can generalize & say people above 60 are too old & unfit to travel; a person much below 60 may have serious medical problems & really unfit to travel?

AGEING/GOOD HEALTH IS NEVER A CHRONOLOGICAL FACTOR!!

Then, same rule should be applicable to local buses, saloons which have started today!!
