Lockdown day 44: No new coronavirus cases reported in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 7: With four cases being reported in two days, people of the twin districts could heave a sigh of relief as no coronavirus cases were reported in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Thursday, May 7.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 40,327 people have been screened so far, including 24 on Thursday. Thirty-nine people are at NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility with 11 new admissions while three from there have been sent for home quarantine. Another 40 people are currently quarantined in ESI hospital.

As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.

A total of 4,063 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 3,791 samples have been received. Out of these, 3,763 have tested negative, 28 positive, and 12 are currently active. Thirteen people have recovered and been discharged, and three deaths have occurred so far.

Out of the 28 positive cases, 19 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala.

As many as 147 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 92 samples were received on Thursday which were all negative.

Reports of 272 samples are awaited. As many as 20 persons have been admitted for observation.

A total of 2,569 people have been treated at fever clinics so far, and 14 screened via mobile clinics. On Thursday, 13 cases of severe acute respiratory illness were reported.

In Udupi, a total of 2,503 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 86 on Thursday, and a total of 3,363 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 85 on Thursday. As many as 685 persons are currently in home quarantine.

Altogether, 13 high-risk persons and 13 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 50 people are in isolation wards, including 12 fresh admissions on Thursday.

As many as 403 people, including 10 on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 1,410 samples have been collected so far, including 53 on Thursday. Out of them, 1,327 samples have turned out to be negative, and 80 reports are awaited. Till now, three people who had tested positive earlier have all recovered and have been discharged.
