Bengaluru: Health and Family Welfare Dept announces SOP for Kannadigas returning from overseas

Bengaluru, May 6: Residents of Karnataka state, who will be returning from various countries across the globe from May 8 have to follow Standard Of Practice (SOP). This contains a 20-pages instruction issued by the health and family welfare department of the state.

Karnataka is expecting 10,823 people including 4,408 tourists, 3,074 students, 2,748 migrants and professionals and 557 ship crew to return to the state. They have to follow the rules mentioned in the SOP.

In the first phase, 6,100 people are going to arrive in the state. Giving more details on this Pankaj Kumar Pandy commissioner, health and family welfare department said, "Those who are arriving the state from overseas will touchdown in airports at Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Karwar. In addition, Mangaluru seaport also will be used by those who arrive by ship.

"A team of health officials will check them for coronavirus infection. Those who are found to have coronavirus infection will be sent to KC General and C V Ramnagar public hospital for quarantine. We will also give the residents of the state who arrive from overseas the option of residing in hotels which will be identified by BBMP.

"All data about people who arrive in the state will be gathered. All of them have to compulsorily download Aarogya Setu, Quarantine Watch and Aaptamitra apps on their mobile. Throat culture samples of suspected passengers will be collected on fifth, seventh and 12th day and sent for examination. They have to be in the isolation hospitals for 14 days. People, who do not have any coronavirus infections symptoms, residing in hotels will be tested on fifth and seventh days. If that test also turns negative, then they have to be in home quarantine for one week and one more test will be done on the 14th day."
