Lockdown day 41: No new cases of coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 4: No new cases of coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Monday May 4.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 40,206 people have been screened so far, including 49 on Monday. Thirty-five people at NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility have been sent home while 33 more continue to stay there. Another 40 people are currently quarantined in ESI hospital.

As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.

A total of 3,683 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 3,278 samples have been received. Out of these, 3,254 have tested negative, 24 positive, and 9 are currently active. Twelve persons have recovered and been discharged, three deaths have occurred so far.

Out of the 24 positive cases, 18 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala.

As many as 28 samples were sent for testing on Monday. Reports of 75 samples were received on Monday, all of which were negative.

Reports of 330 samples are awaited. As many as 11 persons have been admitted for observation.

A total of 2,339 people have been treated at fever clinics so far, and 207 screened via mobile clinics. On Monday, 12 cases of severe acute respiratory illness were reported.

In Udupi, a total of 2,383 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 33 on Monday, and a total of 3,229 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 43 on Monday. As many as 504 persons are currently in home quarantine.

Altogether, 34 high-risk persons and 12 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 46 people are in isolation wards, including seven fresh admissions on Monday. Two among them are coronavirus suspects, while others have SARI or influenza-like illness.

As many as 375 people, including 16 on Monday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 1,230 samples have been collected so far, including 36 on Monday, among whom 10 are coronavirus suspects. Out of them, 1,162 samples have turned out to be negative, and 65 reports are awaited. Altogether, three people who had tested positive earlier have all recovered and been discharged.
