Mangaluru: Husband Vincent, wife Helen murdered by neighbour in Kinngoli

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 29: A couple living near Kinnigoli was killed in a savagely manner by their neighbour. The murders happened in broad daylight on Wednesday, April 29. The incident happened at Yelinje village near Damaskatte, Kinnigoli.

The victims were Vincent (50) and his wife Helen (45). The murders were allegedly committed by the couple's neighbour, Alphonso. The couple was killed with the help of hoe and a knife.

It is said that before committing the murder, the couple was assaulted by Alphonso over some trivial issue.

The accused has been arrested by Mulky police who are interrogating him. He will be presented in the court and will most probably be remanded to judicial custody later today.

The husband, an ex-serviceman, was killed on the spot. His wife breathed her last when being taken to a hospital.

Justice must be delivered fast. This is a clear case of premeditated, cold and brutal revenge. The law should provide for doing to the offender what he has done to the victims. Theories of mental stability, etc. is pure hog wash. They are distractions inserted by interested parties to delay justice. Our judicial system has been reduced to a farce by falling for such crap. A law enforcement system must be swift, just and ruthless giving wrong doers no chance to escape. Our rotten system does just the opposite.

I don't agree that he is mental. A mental person never sit inside the house during lockdown. He will not kill a particular person for whatever reason. Now by his act he shows himself as a mental. Stringent punishment shall be given to him.
Poor the innocent children lost their parents. May God strengthen them and bless them always. If anybody could give their number...

Sometimes, ignoring wrong people & bad things around makes lot of difference.

Had Mr. Vincent ignored Alphonse for his negative behavior, he and his wife could have been survived today & their children wouldn't have been orphans. May be Alphonse was lonely, depressed, distressed and hopeless person. We should understand such persons mentality and should behave in proper manner to keep ourselves safe.

People should not lose their cool and invite unnecessary problems.

    RIP Mrs & Mr. Vincent

Must kill him the same way. Feel extremely sad for the children. These type of people should not be born. Whatever may be the reason for the quarrel. Is it worth it. What has he proved by killing his neighbour to his own family. Do they also approve of it. Our religion teaches us love thy neighbour.

This is not an open and shut case. True Alphonse is guilty, but he killed them on his premises. So the issue becomes, they were prying on his property. Added to that fact is, Alphonse is a depressed man for many years, living all alone, under medication, and a small time coolie..he is psychologically disturbed. Such kinds of persons suppress their rage and injustice that they might have experienced all these years, only to erupt in a fraction of momentary madness. He probably was unaware of his monstrous behaviour, if u analyse his background.

    RIP dear parents. Tragic.

Alfonso is not alcoholic or drug addict
By reading the article it is very clear that he has been going thru psychological problems and depressed . It is very clear from the pictures Mr Vincent has been murdered in Mr Alfonso property and the fight is over the property issue
Vincent Being a educated man And being aware of Alfonso sickness why did he go to his property,. If he had any problems he should have solved it in the court
Now because of anger, frustration and past grudge the couple lost their lives and the their children became orphaned.

    Jossy Saldanha, Mangalore.
I agree with you on Vincent & Helen are a graceful couple, very helpful to each orher.
However I disagree with you on Alphonse was a drug addict and cruel.
He was in depression and living all alone in his simple house, doing menial works.

The bigger issue is : Did Alphonse enter the house of Vincentbsnd Helen to attack them? Or they cane to attack him in his house. Who came to Alphonse house. Had he taken protection or did he carry weapons before entering to his property and the house. Or was he alerted.
Alphonse has complained before. Was there no an iota if truth in his complaints?

How Alphonse got hurt in his head? Did any hailstone fell on his head?

I don’t justifybthe murder rather condemn it, but could have avoided even after knowing that he was mentally unstable.
The lesson to learn is better avoid such incidents and make the children and the family orphans.
May the departed souls of Vincent and Helen rest in peace.

If Alfonso was troubling neighbors ,or arrogant , as a good parishioner they should have brought this notice to the church authorities or to his family or siblings .
It is very clear Alfonso didn’t go to their house .
Fight broke between them ,, if Vincent would have maintain patience and cool mind he would have avoided this incident . Today children lost their parents .
From the article it is very clear Alfonso was leaving alone .

For any event or issue, Vincent used to be the first one to render help of any sort. He was loved by all in the neighborhood. He and his wife certainly did not deserve this kind of an end. I pray that his soul rests in peace because the act was so ghastly in nature. The two little angels are in a state of shock! I hope and pray that they gain the courage to march on with their lives.

If this happened in a different, people wouldn't take two seconds to blame the whole country. I remember when I initially moved to Melbourne and there was a woman murdered, ALL the comments on the article were about how bad and racist Australia is and that all Indians should immediately return back to India. How much safer is India? And is this was a Hindu man or a Muslim man who killed this couple, people would not blink an eye to comment rudely about the other religion and then it would turn into a religious war. But what now? People need to stop blaming a community when something happens. Everyone is unsafe in every country, they themselves need to be careful. And just being a religious man doesn't make you a good person.

He was working as helper to everyone surroundings not refusing to take wages. Ratherceould say, give this to the church, Mother Mary.

Fallen house he managed to put sheet and started dwelling there after coming from Mumbai.... Sad... What to be done...? Now, everything is too late... Gurkar of that ward and animators would have taken care of him towards, his treatment with the help of parish priest... That's why wards are formed headed by the gurkar and animators just to reach out the needy like this. Not for just conducting meetings once in a year to read Bible quotes and repeat three times... Hanging is no solution for crimes. A person sent behind bars for 20 years suffers more than death sentence. Even i am against judiciary killings, when we can't give life to anyone, we can't take someone's life. Let the guilty be behind bars for life, let them feel the pain of old age, desease etc, that is more harsher punishment than hanging.

    Sanhay
You mean even terrorist or ppl who have done heinous crime like "nirbhaya killers" should not be hanged?
Some day some one will hi jack some politician /officials and ask for release of such criminals in exchange of politician /officials
    What is ur opinion then?
I feel death penalty is the only answer for some kind of crimes and such cases should be done on fast track and should be finished within a short period say 3 to 6 months

Sanjay..what is the guarantee that after being in jail once he comes out he will not kill others? There are many cases where rapists came out of jail on bail and raped again. Hanging is the best solution so that other people won't resort to killing of any person.

Sentence for life without parole or release. Let them be inside, die a natural death inside.

Hanging is merciful. The victim's children are going to feel the loss every single day. Why should the perpetrator be released from his sins just by hanging him to death? He should feel the weight of his actions till the end of his life. Life sentence without a chance of a parole is what should be given to him. Let him rot behind the bars for the rest of his life. And if indeed he was mentally unstable, then lock him up at a mental asylum for dangerous criminals.

Cynthia Goveas Sharjah, dear,he is a mentally unstabile person. He needs a thourough check up first before giving him any punishment. For him no relegion, teachings or church matters at moment. He should have treated long back when one knows he is mentally sick, avoid any preaching or other talks.Where were all neighbours ward people and priest or someone when he was showing mental unstability?Idont say what he did is correct, but now all are saying punishment ,hang him etc.Sure he must be punished .
