Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Apr 29: A personal protection equipment (PPE) kit worn by doctors for treating coronavirus patients was found in the river at Kodangala, Alevoor gram panchayat limits, on Tuesday, April 28. However, no action was taken in this connection till night.

Panchayat office staff who noticed the same informed the health department about it. The health department in turn lodged a police complaint. As the PPE is used only for medical treatment, police officials need to investigate who used the kit and in which hospital, who threw it in the river and the purpose of throwing it. However, police personnel had not visited the spot till night.

“The used PPE needs to be destroyed as per biochemical waste management methods after police investigation. The health department is ready to provide details of the process to the panchayat,” said coronavirus nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat.
