Bengaluru, Apr 13: The effect of coronavirus pandemic has cast its shadows on the academic year of schools and educational institutions of the country. There is a possibility that the current academic year may start later than usual.

According to some sources the schools are going to be opened only in the month of July or August. That means the educational institutions will be closed for more than four months. In addition, SSLC and second PUC exams are yet to be held. Valuation needs to be completed, results need to be declared. In addition, school text books and uniforms need to be readied for the students. All this will take enormous amount of time. So it is being said that the schools are not likely to open in the month of June.

Experts have advised the education department not to open schools till the month of August. The government has not taken any decision in this regard so far. Only after the coronavirus pandemic is curbed, the government may look into this matter.

Speaking to the press, Shashikumar, secretary of private schools federation said, "In the prevailing conditions decision has to be taken only after considering the coronavirus pandemic development in the whole nation. But opening schools is August will be too late. If coronavirus pandemic gets over in the month of April also it is not possible to open schools suddenly. These all have to be discussed with the education department."
