Mangaluru: Amid lockdown, student tries to smuggle friend in suitcase!

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 12: With strict lockdown in place in the wake of increasing number of coronavirus cases, people are finding innovative ways to violate the lockdown.

Kadri police in the city on Sunday April 12 had a strange case to deal with. To their chagrin, they were given to understand that a student was literally packed into a suitcase which was then carried by his friend.

The incident happened at an apartment complex on Arya Samaj Road here where a student lives.

There is strict ban on the visit of newcomers to the apartment because of lockdown rules. The student was too much bored inside his apartment. He therefore thought of a plan to smuggle his friend into his flat.

His friend was stuffed into a huge suitcase. When the suitcase was being eased into the apartment complex, the suitcase wobbled a little. The people at the apartment grew suspicious at this development. The suitcase was opened and the people were shocked to find that a human being emerged out of it like it happens in magic shows.

Both the students were then taken to Kadri police station for questioning.

    1. Kudos to the two boys for exhibiting true Friendship; they need to be applauded!
    2. Have Apt Owners Association the right to ban visitors coming in singles or twos? Section 144 bars gatherings of 5 or more people;
    3. This highlights the need for caring and companionship amidst the lockdown;
    4. I hope the police act lenient and allow the two friends to stay together; if necessary after testing them for Covid-19.
    5. When the history of Covid-19 is written, these two boys should find a prominent place for conveying a humane message.

    I read elsewhere, that the boy who took his friend in suitcase is a teenager, hence, the possibility of the boy inside suitcase also may be a teenager.

    Later, the parents of both the students were summoned to the station.
    No case has been registered in this connection, the sources said.

    Harmless naughty stuff from young guys must not be taken serious . I would prefer to laugh over it than going about complaints and cases. Life is too short to be taken so serious.

    It is unbelievable but true. A very unique way to snuggle his friend in such a comprising position and that too inside a suitcase. Whatever the friend had in mind but he is an idiot but the student is genius.

    This issue though looks funny, represent a serious issue of young students who are trapped in their house due to lock down. There are many students staying away from their parents, many staying alone in PG or apartments, due to sudden announcement of lock down, they are unable to join their parents. Is there any solutions to their problems. During lock down, when immediate neighbor is distancing more, and no clear-cut announcements for those who are temporarily living apart from their parents, There are many elderly people staying alone in apartments too. They are unable to move out nor helpers are available.

    It is high time local/government authorities think about these students and also many elderly people and allow them to move back to their families.

    In Saudi Arabia, in the company where my friend worked, all employees were male. Employees were from India, Philippines and Thailand. After some time time, the employer found one female employee among the Thai employees. How that female was able to come as male, nobody knew. Why Thai male employees brought her, no need to explain. Employer did not give her to police, but, immediately sent her back. This is real and not story.
