Coronavirus positive tested pregnant woman from Bhatkal admitted to hospital in Udupi

Udupi, Apr 10: A 26-year-old lady in fifth month of her pregnancy, who tested positive for coronavirus is admitted into a hospital in the city.

Three coronavirus positive patients are being treated in Dr T M A Pai hospital here. Giving justification of admitting the coronavirus positive pregnant lady of Bhatkal in Udupi, district health officer Sudhir Chandra Sooda said, "This is a special case. As the pregnant woman could not be treated in Bhatkal she is admitted to a hospital here."

Due to the strict lockdown in place in the state, no one is allowed to move from one district to another. However, the case of the pregnant woman admitted to hospital in Udupi, though she is a resident of Bhatkal, is considered as extraordinary and that is why she is being treated in Udupi as per the orders of the Karnataka state government.

District administration of Uttara Kannada district to which the infected woman belongs is taking regular updates from Dr T M A Pai hospital.
