Brahmavar, Apr 2: In a tragic incident, two people died after drowning in a rivulet in Chantaru village here, on Thursday, April 2.

Mahesh Nayak (21) and Nishanth (12) from Chantaru village had been for bath when the incident occurred. The rivulet has a fence around it and also has a guard. Police personnel said that the now deceased duo might have entered through the gate that is meant to switch on the water pump.

Mahesh was employed as an electrician while Nishanth was staying at his grandmother’s house at Hirebettu and was studying in seventh standard at a primary school at Hirebettu. As he had a week’s holidays in the school, he had come to the house of Mahesh at Padubettu, Chantaru.

When the family members saw that the duo who had gone for bath had not returned, they came to the rivulet in search of them. As they found their clothes lying beside the rivulet, they suspected that the two might have drowned. They retrieved their bodies with the help of locals and took them to Mahesh Hospital where the doctors pronounced them dead. A complaint in this connection is registered at Brahmavar police station.
