ED in COVID-19 fight donates to PM fund

New Delhi, Mar 31 (IANS): The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday announced that its officials have donated their one-day salary in the PM-CARES fund created to meet the needs in the fight against coronavirus.

The ED, which is mandated to investigate financial corruption cases across the country, made the announcement through its Twitter account.

It is among the top Central law enforcement agencies after the Central Bureau of Investigation which on March 29 took pledge to donate one-day salary of its officials in the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund).

People from different walks of life, including businessmen and Bollywood actors, paramilitary force and politicians have been donating in the PM fund created to help the central government to meet the crisis created by the pandemic.

On March 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the PM-CARES Fund. He urged people from all walks of life to express their desire to donate to India's war against COVID-19 - a disease originated from China's Wuhan city and has caused over 22,000 deaths and over 5 lakh confirmed cases across the globe.
