Bengaluru: BSY promises immediate steps to supply essential equipment to medical personnel

Bengaluru, Mar 29: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has promised that the State Government will take urgent steps to ensure immediate supply of essential medical equipment like PPE kits, masks and sanitizer bottles to doctors, nurses and other para-medical staff treating all coronavirus affected people.

Speaking at the all party meeting convened by him on tackling the situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic at the conference hall of VidhanaSoudha on Sunday, the Chief Minister promised to seriously take and implement all valuable suggestions given by the opposition parties.

Opposition Congress leader Siddaramaiah, party opposition leader in the Council S R Patil and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and cabinet ministers participated in the all party meeting.

The opposition parties promised to extend full support to the State Government in its efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and also help the affected people.

The Chief Minister agreed to the suggestion of the leaders of opposition parties to ensure that the medical personnel treating the coronavirus patients in the districts and taluks would also be provided with the essential equipment and facilities.

Steps would be taken to conduct necessary medical tests of all people, especially migrants struck in the border areas and also to provide necessary shelter for such people, he said promising to ensure that the virus affected travelers and passengers will be taken to quarantine centres and also provide facilities to the healthy people to reach their respective people.

On the suggestion of the opposition leaders, the Chief Minister promised to initiate measures for transport and distribution of the agricultural produce of famers and also supply seeds, fertilisers and pesticides.

Yediyurappa took up the suggestion of the opposition leaders to ensure supply of the rations to the beneficiaries to their doorsteps in view of the lockdown all over the State. The State Government will consider and take necessary steps to work out the modalities to implement, the Chief Minister said.

He also informed the opposition leaders that he had discussed with religious and community leaders of the Muslims and has prevailed upon them to hold their prayers in their respective residences instead of going to mosques in view of the lockdown. He congratulated the community leaders for their wholehearted cooperation.
