Mangaluru: Malicious propaganda about treatment in Wenlock Hospital - Complaint filed

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 24: Eight different special rooms have been earmarked in Wenlock Hospital here for looking after people suspected to be infected with coronavirus. Whenever the hospital comes across suspicious cases, the patients are first admitted into one of these rooms and then treatment of patients begins. Each room is set aside for one person. Still, some people have been indulging in malicious propaganda about the hospital, and a complaint in this connection has been filed with the cybercrime police, said medical superintendent of the hospital.

She stated that throat swabs of the suspects are collected and sent for tests. "If the result is negative, they are sent home with an advice to stay in home quarantine for a period of 14 days. If the result is positive, treatment is extended as per the guidance provided by World Health Organization. As per the order passed by the deputy commissioner of the district, special arrangements have been made at Wenlock Hospital for people suspected of coronavirus infection. The patients are kept in separate rooms individually and treated," she stated by way of clarification.

Help desks have been set up at various spots inside the hospital to spread awareness about coronavirus, she informed.

She further explained that complaint has been filed with the cyber police as well as Pandeshwar police station here about certain people involved with spreading false notions about coronavirus treatment in Wenlock Hospital through social websites.

It's better the district administration should shift the corona ward from City to outskirt of city. It's bete shift to Vamanjoor TB hospital building, because there's no more patients and it is isolated area from city. There should be only corona patient and staff and should not allow any one to come there..

Why Wenlock hospital administration is nervous. There should be separate building alloted for carona virus patients. You cannot treat the suspected patients and allow them to roam even in corridors. Such a big city like Managalore , the action taken is nothing. Gays please wake up before situvation go out of control. I think patients no will increase in hospital itself if proper quarantine is not followed. Our Doctors, Nurses, cleaning staffs are in total risk if proper action by hospital authority.

Only 8 special rooms for such a big district which has an international airport. All over the world hospitals are getting ready in thousands beds and in Mangalore can accommodate only single digit number of beds. This statement of the hospital superintendent is enough for the one to judge how such a big hospital is prepared for the fast growing infectious disease.

Mangaluru is a bustling city, in Dakshin Kannada district..... Wenlock is the only government district hospital, which was established in the colonial British rule... The hospital certainly does not inspire confidence, rather patients and visitors, tend to get depressed, only the marginalized citizens patronage this hospital... We in Mumbai, have numerous government/municipal hospitals like KEM, Nair, J.J, Sion, St George, Rajawadi..... these hospitals are professionally governed, well maintained, are better then even the seven star hospitals, which are created only for the rich and famous of our society... The Karnataka state, must step in to completely overhaul this medical center n bring it at par, with other numerous private hospitals in the city.....

Ask the hospital to provide video and photos of the special rooms. Also, do the investigation and get the feedback from the hospital staff and patients. Check what measures the hospital has taken to ensure staff safety.
